Meet Dr. Jocelyn Ivie
Our board-certified OBGYN, Dr. Jocelyn Ivie, has found nothing that can compete with the joy that is felt after delivering a baby. Her career as an OBGYN has helped her develop several other professional passions along the way, such as finding solutions for women with sexual dysfunction, performing minimally invasive surgery that includes robotic and single-site procedures, and vulvar cosmetic surgery. Dr. Ivie is board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). As an award-winning OBGYN, she was awarded the "Best Doctors Award" in 2015 and 2017 by Desert Companion Magazine.
Dr. Ivie lives by the mantra, "Be present in the moment." She wants you to know that once the exam room door closes, she will shut out whatever is happening on the other side. You will have her full attention, and she will focus on you and your unique situation. Her time with you will be spent understanding your needs and setting up a future plan together as her goal is to be a partner with you throughout your life. Dr. Ivie is committed to helping you navigate the trials and tribulations of being female – from adolescence to menopause.
Skills and Specialties
Dr. Ivie specializes in minimally invasive surgeries for the female reproductive tract, such as laparoscopic surgery, LEEP, tubal ligation, dilation and curettage, hysterectomy, colposcopy, and cesarean-section delivery. She is also highly experienced in managing pregnancies, vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) deliveries, and vaginal deliveries. Dr. Ivie also offers screenings for gynecological cancers, sexually transmitted diseases, fertility, and more.
Dr. Ivie grew up in southern California in a very tight-knit Filipino family. She received a biomechanical engineering degree at Cal (UC Berkeley). Then, she took a six-month break during college to work at a biotech firm. Dr. Ivie soon realized the doctors at the biotech firm had more fun than the engineers. She switched gears and went to medical school at USC Keck School of Medicine in East Los Angeles, CA. She stayed in the area for her OBGYN residency at White Memorial Medical Center. After graduation, Dr. Ivie had the pleasure of serving in the U.S. Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base.
Living here in Las Vegas since 2001 has taught her that despite its huge growth, Las Vegas has maintained both its small-town charm and its big heart. When Dr. Ivie is not at work, she enjoys yoga, classic movies, raising her "mini-me" daughter with the personality of her father, and trying to find directions to the gym.
"Dr. Ivie was very caring and took her time to go over a lot of things with me. She seemed very interested in my concerns and offered me quite a few solutions. She seems to be a great doctor."
"I absolutely love Dr. Ivie! She delivered my last 2 babies via c-section."
"I have been a patient of Dr. Ivie's for decades now and I have followed her every time she changes practices. I don't care how far I have to drive or how long I have to wait, she is worth it. There was a year where I had insurance her office didn't take and I saw a different Doctor, huge mistake!!! The doctor I saw came in for my annual and spent literally 3 minutes in the room with me and left. I didn't even have a chance to tell her I wanted to go back on the pill (which by the way the nurse prescribed even though I'm a smoker and well over 35 years old). Dr Ivie not only takes time to talk to me and see what has been going on she asks me about things from my prior visit, usually a year later. I don't care if she remembered or read my chart, the point is she asks. I would drive to St. George and pay out of pocket for that kind of care. If the rest of the doctors are half as good as Dr. Ivie WHASN would have to be the best OBGYN office in the country."
"Dr. Jocelyn Ivie is my favorite OB/GYN. For every appointment, she is patient, kind, listens to all my concerns and never makes me feel rushed. She calmed me during labor even when baby's heartbeat was drastically dropping with each contraction (cord around the neck). You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients."
"Dr. Ivie became my OB after I moved to the area and was 5 months pregnant. I immediately felt comfortable with her and am very happy with the care she provides. She is down to earth and has a great sense of humor as well as being professional and supportive."
